It is SPRING!  Yeah!  Time to get out and enjoy the wonderful weather AND take care of your lawn.  Here are a few tips to get you going...


1.  RAKE/DETHATCH - a nice thorough raking after the snow season has ended will help wake up your lawn and allow the new grass to emerge without the work of pushing through all the winter debris and is also effective in curing "snow mold".
2.   FEED - through the end of April you should apply a fertilizer to your lawn and if you had trouble with crab grass last year consider a fertilizer plus a pre-emergent herbicide.
3.  SEED - if your lawn is looking a bit sparse you may want to consider "overseeding" to fill in the existing lawn.  Make sure to choose a seed that works in your lawn area (high traffic, sun & shade or dense shade).  Also do NOT overseed while using pre-emergent herbicides as these will not only kill the weeds, but also your new grass seed!
4.   MOWER MAINTAINANCE  - make sure that your lawn mower or garden tractor are up to task.  Have your equipment in for a professional check up.
